Annual Fundraising Campaign
This campaign season, United Way is asking for the community’s support to help increase participation by spreading the word, building more partnerships, and raising more funds. When you donate to United Way, you are helping your family members, friends, co-workers, and neighbors get the support they need from more than 50 local community programs and initiatives. By working together, we leverage our collective support for the community—a force multiplier—to give kids the best start, build financial stability, and help everyone live healthy and connected lives.
Last year, United Way invested more than $1.025 million into the community through funded community partners and United Way initiatives. The community can support United Way by holding fundraising campaigns in the workplace, within their social networks, and through personal household gifts and special events. United Way is also asking individuals who have retired or changed jobs to consider renewing their pledges. Many people do not realize that their donation stops when they leave the workplace. Thank you for your support.

Diaper Donations Needed!
Babies use up to 12 diapers per day--costing families up to $1,200 per year! Due to rising costs, the need for diapers in our community is high.
Imagine the challenge of not being able to change your baby’s diaper? Today in our Mid Coast community, families are struggling to meet their basic needs. In addition to making hard choices on how to get the bills paid and food on the table, the safety net families rely on doesn't help with the cost of diapers.
United Way of Mid Coast Maine is committed to helping give kids the best start. We want to improve the health and well-being of babies by raising community awareness about the basic need for diapers. An adequate supply of diapers is essential to a baby’s health. Lacking an adequate supply of diapers can cause undue stress on both baby and parent. The lack of a sufficient supply of disposable diapers for a baby to remain clean, dry, and healthy can affect the short-term health of a child and impact long-term health and development.
The Diaper Project collects diapers and funds to purchase diapers through diaper drives held at businesses and organizations, and contributions from individuals and community groups. Diapers are repackaged by volunteers and distributed to local organizations supporting local families.
We are in need of diapers in sizes 5 and 6 (donations of any size diaper, including opened packages, are welcome and greatly appreciated!)
Diapers can be shipped or dropped off to United Way of Mid Coast Maine, 34 Wing Farm Parkway, Suite 201, Bath. In lieu of diaper donations, you can make a gift to United Way, designating funds toward the diaper project. To make a donation, please visit uwmcm.org/diapers.
Thank you for your support. Together we can improve the health and well-being of families and help give kids the best start.
And there’s more than one way to help -- organize a diaper drive! Please visit uwmcm.org/diapers to learn more.

United Way Welcomes Nicole Evans as Executive Director

January 2023
Greetings!
I am thrilled to be reaching out to you as the new Executive Director of United Way of Mid Coast Maine. It is an honor to represent and serve this incredible organization.
I stepped into the role on January 1 after celebrating Barbara Reinertsen’s retirement. We are grateful for her 30 years of dedicated service to the community. I was thankful for my time with Barbara, having joined United Way of Mid Coast Maine as Director of Development in May of 2022. Previously, I served as Executive Director for the American Red Cross Central and Mid Coast Maine Chapter, and held leadership positions at Mid Coast Humane and United Way of Southern Maine. During my 12-year tenure at United Way of Southern Maine, I helped the organization build a path toward transformative community impact initiatives, launch three 10-year community-wide goals, invest millions of dollars into the community, and create a statewide initiative to increase household financial stability. In addition to my fulltime positions and volunteer Board service in Maine, I have provided counsel to businesses and non-profits across the country.
I look forward to all that we will do, together, to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities. Together, we can give kids the best start, build financial stability, and help everyone live long, healthy and connected lives. The future is bright!
Thank you for all that you have done to support United Way and everyone we serve. Will you join me to invest in our community?
