ALICE in Maine: A Study of Financial Hardship
United Ways of Maine have released the inaugural report “ALICE in Maine: A Study of Financial Hardship”, which shines a light on the financial hardships faced by individuals and families across the state. ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) represents many of us, our family members, friends, co-workers, and neighbors. The ALICE in Maine report, County snapshots, and datasheets, are available at www.aliceinmaine.org. We are grateful to the John T. Gorman Foundation for providing funding for the report.

- 47% of Lincoln County (down 3%), including 49% of Damariscotta;
- 46% of Brunswick (down 1%) and 36% of Harpswell (down 2%);
- 38% of Knox County (down 3%); including 50% of Rockland;
- 33% of Sagadahoc County (down 4%); including 44% of Richmond;
- 40% of Maine (flat, ranked 28th); 41% of the U.S.
