For 2011-2012, United Way of Mid Coast Maine is investing in the following programs
that are producing positive results and helping us make progress toward our Community Goals.
Bath Area Family YMCA - Financial Aid
Assures all people have access to the facilities and programs that nurture the potential of every child and teen, and that improve the health and well being of individuals and families.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bath/Brunswick - Community and School-based Mentoring
Matches adult and teen mentors with at risk youth in one-to-one mentoring relationships, and offers group activities for children waiting to be matched with a mentor.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mid Coast Maine - Youth Mentoring
Helps youth ages 5-14 in Lincoln County who are facing adversity achieve higher aspirations, create better relationships and have educational success by pairing them with trained caring adult, high school, college and corporate mentors.
Central Lincoln County YMCA - Teen Leadership Programs
Fosters skill development for area teens in areas of leadership, conflict management, positive social interactions and problem solving.
Elmhurst, Inc. - Supported Living Program
Provides one-on-one assistance and support to individuals with disabilities who are living
in their own home or apartment in the greater Bath region.
Girl Scouts of Maine - Girl Grants
Girl Grants afford low-income at-risk girls the opportunity to enrich their lives through Girl Scout programming and summer camp.
Independence Association - Community Support and Services
Assists individuals with disabilities, in the greater Brunswick region, achieve their employment goals by removing employment barriers, facilitating independence, and supporting them in meaningful employment in the community.
Mobius, Inc. - Integrated Employment for Persons with Developmental Disabilities
Trains, places and supports adults and youth with disabilities in jobs paying competitive wages in Lincoln County community businesses.
People Plus - Brunswick Area Teen Center
Provides activities and a safe, inclusive and creative gathering place after school and during the summer for youth in grades 6-12 who live in the Brunswick area.
Tri-County Literacy Volunteers - Adult Literacy Program
Adult learners are tutored by trained volunteers, individually or in small groups, to develop
reading, writing, comprehension, and computational literacy skills.
Youth Promise - Jump Start
Provides a community mentor and trainings on positive life skills to young people who are struggling in order to give them a jump start in their life.
Youth Promise - Mentor Assisted Community Service
Matches struggling youth referred by either the juvenile justice system or their school with caring mentored community service opportunities as a way to pay back the cost of their actions and to get back a positive connection with their community.
