Program Investments
For 2011-2012, United Way of Mid Coast Maine is investing in the following programs
that are producing positive results and helping us make progress toward our Community Goals.
All About Prevention - Community Education and Testing
Offers in depth HIV, STD and Viral Hepatitis prevention education to schools, community agencies and individuals in an effort to reduce infections in at risk populations, and offers free, rapid HIV testing, counseling and referrals.
Catholic Charities Maine - Greater Bath Elder Outreach Network
Helps isolated elder residents remain independent in their homes by matching them with trained volunteers who help them in their homes or with tranportation.
Damariscotta Family Planning - Clinical Health Care Services
Assures accessible, affordable, high quality reproductive health services, information and education, and provides screening and treatmnt for sexually transmitted infections for men, women and teens.
ElderCare Network of Lincoln County - Community Outreach
Serves low income elders by developing adult day care and activity programs for residents in their Medicaid-supported senior housing facilities in six different Lincoln County villages.
Family Crisis Services - Midcoast Outreach Program
In the Bath-Brunswick region, provides services to victims and survivors of domestic violence including one-on-one counseling; safety planning; assistance with police, criminal and civil court systems; assistance in obtaining Protection from Abuse Orders; and provides information and referrals to community resources.
Home to Home
Provides a safe, easily accessible location for separating/divorcing parents in
high-conflict relationships to exchange their children for visitations, and offers
parenting education and support groups for parents involved in high conflict divorces.
Lincoln Academy - School-based Health Center
Provides mental health counseling and addresses the social service needs of adolescents in grades 9-12 who have no or inadequate health insurance.
Mid Coast American Red Cross - Emergency Services
Responds to loal emergencies and disasters 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, and meets the basic needs of residents by providing immediate food, shelter, and emotional assistance to disaster victims.
Mid Coast American Red Cross - Health & Safety Program
Provides community members with skills to act in emergencies - recognizing, preventing and
responding to life-threatening situations.
MSAD 75 - School-based Health Center
Health Center at Mt. Ararat High School in Topsham provides access to urgent
medical care, preventive and behavioral health services to students who would
not otherwise receive care.
New Hope for Women - Lincoln County Outreach
Provides services to battered women, their children, and all people affected by
domestic and dating violence. Services include 24-hour hotline, support group, access to legal services, transitional housing, and school-based and community education.
OASIS Health Network - Oasis Free Clinics
Offers free clinics in Brunswick for the poor and uninsured, providing access
to primary care services, prescription medications, routine dental care, routine eye care and glasses,
and non-emergent mental health care.
OASIS Health Network - Oasis Community Prescription Assistance Program
Helps poor and uninsured patients obtain medications from pharmaceutical companies in the management of chronic medical conditions.
PIne Tree Legal Assistance - Victims Assistance Program
Provides free legal assistance to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking in order to assure the victim's safety, financial stability and overall well being.
People Plus - Community Outreach
Serves primarily lonely isolated older adults in Brunswick and neighboring communities,
and offers one-one-one counseling, daily telephone check-ins, and referral services.
Planned Parenthood of Northern New England - Brunswick/Topsham Clinic
Provides quality reproductive health care and sexuality education to women,
men, and teens at a price they can afford.
Respite Care
Provides supportive care and information in Brunswick area through adult day care, support groups,
counseling and education to families facing the challenges of aging.
Sexual Assault Support ServicesSchool-based Education Program
Provides sexual violence awareness, risk reduction, and prevention-based educational
programs to prevent and reduce sexual abuse, sexual harassment and sexual assault towards and
between youth.
SweetserLearning and Recovery Center
Provides an atmosphere of healing, wellness, creativity and a commitment to personal growth where individuals build relationships and skills that promote recovery from disabling mental disorders, trauma and substance abuse.
