Success Stories

For 2005-2006, United Way of Mid Coast Maine invested in the following programs that are producing positive results for individuals and families, helping us make progress toward our Community Goals.
 
Coastal Economic Development - Family Development Case Management

Provides comprehensive family case management services, especially for families with multiple issues and needing assistance with various complicated eligibility criteria for different federal, state and local assistance.

Coastal Economic Development - Housing Counseling Program

Provides services and supports for housing issues, including information and referral, advocacy, supportive counseling, and emergency housing funds.

Coastal Trans, Inc. - Non-Emergency, Demand-Response Transportation

Addresses the travel needs of the elderly, low-income, disabled and general public. Provides transportation for Medicaid patients, and coordinates with other state and local agencies the transportation services for the region.

Good Shepherd Food Bank

Local Mid Coast food banks can purchase food from this statewide organization at reduced cost, stretching the dollars to help provide nutrition to more families and individuals.

Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program

Provides nutrition, food assistance, education and referral services to households living at or below poverty in the greater Brunswick area.

Senior Spectrum - Meals on Wheels

Delivers a hot, nutritious meal to homebound older adults and disabled persons five days a week.

Tedford Shelter - Homeless Prevention Program

Provides rental assistance, information and referral, and case management services to families and individuals who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

Tedford Shelter - Shelter Program

Provides emergency shelter for single adults and families, and assists guests, whenever possible, in obtaining permanent housing when they leave the shelter.

Tedford Shelter - Supportive Housing

Owns 21 units of supportive housing for individuals and families leaving the shelter, designed with on-site support services to help them live independently.

The Salvation Army - Emergency Assistance

Provides food for the hungry, prevents homelessness, and offers assistance with utilities and other basic needs.
