2010 Community Read Aloud
Success By 6 celebrates each year Read Across America on the anniversary of Dr. Seuss'
birthday, March 2, with our local Community Read Aloud event. 300 volunteers from
all walks of life spend about an hour visiting children at child cares, preschools,
Head Start Centers, and in classrooms at elementary schools to read a favorite book
or two and to talk about why reading is important in their own lives.
To sign up to read with children during this year's Community Read Aloud, Tuesday, March 2, 2010, please send us the following information or download the volunteer reader registration form here:

If you sign up, we will work to match you in February
and provide you with:
- The children's grade and school, or name of the child care site.
- The day and time for your visit.
- The name of your teacher or child care provider, and that person's phone number
so that you can call him or her prior to the Community Read Aloud day.
We recommend you check in that the book or books you have selected are appropriate
for that group of children, and to confirm your visit, the date and time.
- And a list of suggested authors by age group. We work with many local libraries,
and the librarians are more than happy to help you select wonderful books for a
specific age or grade. You also may decide to buy a book to donate to the classroom or
child care site after you read it, a wonderful gesture that is always very much appreciated!
