Program Investments
For 2011-2012, United Way of Mid Coast Maine is investing in the following programs that
are producing positive results for individuals and families, helping us make progress
toward our Community Goals.
Coastal Trans - Non-Emergency, Demand-Respone Transportation
Addresses the travel needs of the elderly, low-income, disabled and general public. Provides transportation for Maine Care (Medicaid) patients, and coordinates the transportation services for the region with other state and local agencies.
Good Shepherd Food Bank
Local Mid Coast food banks can purchase food from this statewide organization at reduced cost,
stretching the dollars to help provide nutrition to more families and individuals.
Habitat for Humanity - Weatherization and Repair Program
Provides weatherization services and limited repairs to improve the health, safety, affordability, and energy efficiency for homeowners.

Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program - Food Security Coalition of Mid Coast Maine
Provides peer support, community outreach and acts as a clearing house for fourteen food pantries and soup kitchens in Cumberland, Sagadahoc, and Lincoln counties.
Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program - Soup Kitchen, Food Bank, Food Assistance
Reduces hunger by providing food assistance, strategies for sustainable living, and referrals to other services to households living at or below poverty in the greater Brunswick area.
Mid Coast Maine Community Action - Family Development Program
Provides comprehensive family case management services that assist families to identify issues,
resources, and goals in fifteen life areas, to enable them to move toward self-sufficiency.
Mid Coast Maine Community Action - Housing Counseling Program
Provides services and supports for housing and other emergencies, including information and
referral, advocacy, supportive counseling, and emergency housing funds.
People Plus - Volunteer Transportation Network
Matches people in Brunswick who are unable to drive or have no other means of transportation with volunteer drivers for medical appointments, shopping and personal needs.
Spectrum Generations - Meals on Wheels
Delivers a hot, nutritious meal two days a week along with three frozen meals to frail, sick, and homebound older adults and disabled persons.
Tedford Housing - Homeless Prevention Program
Provides rental assistance, information and referral, and case management services to families
and individuals who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
Tedford Housing - Emergency Shelter Program
Provides emergency shelter for single adults and families, and assists guests, whenever
possible, in obtaining permanent housing when they leave the shelter.
Tedford Housing - Supportive Housing Program
Offers permanent housing for formerly homeless adults and families coupled with supportive services to assist tenants to maintain their housing and move to greater independence.
The Salvation Army - Emergency Assistance
Provides heating and utility assistance to help prevent homelessness as part of their basic needs assistance programs.
