“I feel that it’s so important for our children to see other adults in the community show an interest in reading. They hear how important reading is from us all the time, but to hear others talk about their love for reading can be captivating.” – Lisa Hargreaves, Special Education Teacher, Great Salt Bay School
It’s almost time for the fourteenth Community Read Aloud on Friday, March 1st. This annual event is sponsored by Success By 6 and celebrates Dr. Seuss’s birthday. Please join this year’s event and share your love of reading with young children!
As a Reader, you visit an elementary school classroom (kindergarten to 6th grade), preschool, or child care center where you will read a story with the children. We also ask that you spend a short time talking with the children about why reading is important to you in your work and daily life. Each visit lasts 30 to 45 minutes.
You may request to read in Harpswell, Brunswick, Sagadahoc County, and/or Lincoln County. Placements are not guaranteed, but we will do our best to fulfill your wishes. Teachers will request specific books or you may bring your own.
